Statewide Resolution, RuleS, & Platform Submission
SUBMISSIONS OPEN MARCH 3rd
Submitting a rule or resolution to your county convention is one of the most direct ways grassroots Democrats shape the direction of the party.
Resolutions are how local Democrats formally say, “This is what we stand for,” and when adopted, they can move up to the state level and help shape the party platform, the comprehensive document outlining the values and policy priorities of the Texas Democratic Party. County conventions are where local issues like school funding, housing affordability, environmental protection, or voting access get real debate and visibility. If passed, resolutions can advance to the Texas Democratic Convention, where they may ultimately be incorporated into the final platform adopted by delegates from across the state.
Submitting a rule, meanwhile, is how you shape how the party operates. Rules govern how delegates are selected, how conventions run, and how transparent and inclusive our processes are. If you’ve ever thought, “There has to be a better way to do this,” proposing a rule is how you make that change. Whether you’re submitting a rule that governs process or a resolution that could influence the platform, you’re participating in party democracy in a meaningful way.
